The St. Johannes Lutheran Church Parsonage, with its blush-toned exterior, looks like the colors in a bride’s trousseau and, indeed, the house chosen for this year’s Symphony Designer Showhouse has seen its share of brides since it was built in 1846.

In fact, one bride revisited the house during a historic Ansonborough tour about 45 years ago. Wilhelmine Meyer Hollings, mother of former govenor and U.S. Sen. Fritz Hollings, used two canes to climb the steep front stairs of the house at 50 Hasell St. She told the pastor that the sweeping second-floor staircase brought back memories of her running down that same staircase on her own wedding day.
